Northeast Region is a highlight in number of poles and vacancies for courses offered in partnership with the Open University of Brazil
The site of the Secretariat of Distance Education of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (SEDIS / UFRN) opens space for a series of reports about the EAD in Brazil and in our state. The intention is to present the different perspectives on this modality of teaching and to connect the interested ones by this theme to the main institutions that develop actions in the area.
First, we will present an overview of the Open University of Brazil (UAB) Program in our country. The UAB was instituted by Decree 5,800, of June 8, 2006, with the objective of offering, as a priority, undergraduate courses and initial and continuing training for teachers of basic education, through distance education (EaD). This system is responsible for the promotion of the EAD in public higher education institutions and for the promotion of collaborative actions between the Federal Government and federal entities for the creation of permanent training centers through distance education poles in locations considered strategic.
Currently, UAB 131 Public Institutions of Higher Education (IPES) participate. Together, they offer courses in more than 900 poles of face-to-face support throughout Brazil. The aid granted to UAB participants consists of the transfer of funding resources to the IPES and scholarships for professionals (teachers, tutors, coordinators) to develop the training and management activities of the courses.
Next, a table with the number of poles of support presencial by region of Brazil. The Northeast region occupies a prominent position.
